House of Stake is the home of NEAR governance, powered by Agora. NEAR token holders lock tokens for voting rights, delegate votes to trusted representatives, and participate in shaping the future of the NEAR ecosystem.
All proposals follow the same sequential process before becoming ratified.
The proposal is posted to the governance forum for public discussion and community feedback before a final proposal is submitted.
The Screening Committee reviews the final proposal. Approval is required to proceed to an onchain vote.
Approved proposals move to an onchain vote. Delegates have 14 days to cast their votes in favour or against.
The Security Council has 7 days to veto the passed vote. If no veto is issued, the proposal is automatically ratified.
Timeline
Fixed duration after forum: 28 days (Screening 7d + Delegate vote 14d + Security Council 7d). Forum deliberation adds variable time before this.

House of Stake is now live on the NEAR blockchain! During this Alpha release, we will be focusing on getting feedback from the community on core workflows and feature requests that we can prioritize for the next release.
House of Stake is ready for the full community to participate in the full House of Stake Governance. New production contracts have been deployed, the first proposal will launch soon, and there are wallet upgrades, bug fixes, and support for rNEAR launching soon!
Please submit bug reports and feature requests on our feedback board.
The current House of Stake implementation has delivered core requirements from the Gauntlet and NEAR Foundation specification:
Several improvements are needed to fully reflect the original specifications, including support for both Fixed and Rolling Lock mechanisms, and enhanced proposal approval processes similar to Gauntlet's Council process with temperature check periods.
Beyond the roadmap items above, several processes require further discussion and development:
Priorities for v2.0 will be crystallized through the development of v1.5, potentially expanding beyond the items outlined here.
